A group of ten sentenced of digital abuse directed at Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has ruled against ten people for perpetrating the digital intimidation of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
The those on trial faced allegations of circulating false claims regarding her sex and sexual orientation, in addition to publishing defamatory statements about the husband and wife's 24-year age gap.
The court handed down suspended prison sentences of a maximum of eight months to the defendants. The complete verdict has not yet been published.
A persistent conspiracy theory suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has spread widely since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.
This latest legal outcome in France comes as the Macrons engaging in a defamation lawsuit in the United States against political commentator Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared analogous false narratives about the French president's wife's gender.
Their lawsuit contends that Owens brushed aside all credible evidence contradicting her allegations in favour of platforming known conspiracy theorists.
Owens has frequently reiterated these claims on her show and social media channels, and in March 2024 stated that she would bet her whole career on her insistence that Mrs. Macron was born a man.
Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her current spouse when she worked as an educator at his secondary school.
The pair married in 2007, when the then-29-year-old Emmanuel Macron was 29 and she was 54.
