Her Royal Highness has organised her annual festive musical service at Westminster Abbey, with attendees featuring members of the royal family, famous faces, and community champions who have helped their communities.

The large audience will hear a blend of traditional hymns, orchestral pieces, and literary excerpts from actors such as Kate Winslet and Chiwetel Ejiofor.

Focusing on Kindness and Compassion

The theme of the event, held in the candle-lit Abbey on the afternoon, is kindness and showing love to others.

Among the guests will be Anna and Jonathan Cordiner, whose young girl was lost to a brain tumour, and who set up a charity, Kayleigh's Wee Stars, to help households where there is a terminally ill child.

"The time, care and compassion you give, often discreetly and without words, and without any expectation or recognition, make an remarkable change to the well-being of people," the Princess expressed in a letter ahead of the concert.

A Gradual Return

The royal has been undertaking her own measured re-emergence to the public eye after her cancer diagnosis and chemotherapy, in November making her first public speech for two years, in which she talked about recognising the "selfless, commonly overlooked efforts of carers".

Music and Opportunity

Attendees entering the Abbey can listen to talented youth performers supported by the charitable trust Future Talent, co-founded by the former royal to widen access to music lessons.

Trumpeter Carys Wood, 18, who is a trumpet player and is from Wales, has been assisted by the organisation, with grants helping towards instruments, tuition, and transportation expenses - and she said it was "awesome" to be performing at the evening's event.

"Pursuing music is often costly," she stated. She is now studying at the renowned conservatoire, and added that "each individual ought to be given the possibility" to develop their musical skills.

A Family Affair

Carys's 11-year-old sister, Eliza, who performs on the brass instrument, will likewise attend the Abbey. "I never imagined I would perform in front of so many notable figures," she said.

Attending the service will be people from various age groups.

That will feature nine-year-old Saphia Turner, winner of a young hero award, who produces drawings and undertakes charity feats to collect donations for community pantries.

Yuletide Atmosphere and Acts

The Abbey has been festooned with custom-created holiday decorations, with celebrity baker Mary Berry and floral designer Simon Lycett assisting in their creation.

The musical lineup includes singer Katie Melua, the Westminster Abbey choristers and a nautical singing ensemble, Fisherman's Friends, who said the opportunity to perform was "a dream come true."

The Together at Christmas carol concert will be televised and shown on a major network on Christmas Eve.
