Micky van de Ven found the net twice as Tottenham prolonged their unbeaten run in away games in the Premier League and handed Everton their initial loss at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

The Toffees were unbeaten in their last five matches at their new ground at the dockside location, having departed Goodison Park behind after 133 years at the end of last season.

But Spurs captain the Dutchman struck on two occasions from corners in the first half to put their strong form at risk, and they were failed to mount a comeback before Pape Matar Sarr - set up by ex-Everton forward the Brazilian - headed home a third to seal the victory.

The Everton defender thought he had levelled the scores five minutes after the defender's opener, glancing a powerful header past Guglielmo Vicario from an Everton corner.

The win moves Thomas Frank's team into third place in the division, five points off local foes and leaders the Gunners.

The Merseyside club remain in 14th position and sit six points ahead of the drop zone.

Tottenham analysis: Van de Ven excels in duties at both ends of pitch

Following a uninspiring weekday display in the Champions League against Monaco, where they mustered a only two shots on goal, the manager opted for the French striker in attack instead of former Toffees player Richarlison.

The end in Everton's winning streak at home won't be a massive worry for the manager, but their striker situation will be.

The forward and the other striker - the Everton's two recognised centre-forwards - had scored only one league goal combined before the weekend's outing.
