The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Sets The Beloved Duo Versus a Tablet Computer
It has been 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story film was released, establishing the animation giant as a leading film company and bringing viewers to beloved figures like Woody (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed this week, offering a glimpse into the plot but keeping viewers wondering how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Toys
The preview reveals the young girl — who received the toy collection when he left for college — getting a brand new toy, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. Bonnie gets her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the characters seem to view it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it probably is.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the trailer doesn't touch on is what the sheriff is returned with his companions in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a new adventure with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), traveling with a fair and helping prize toys locate loving owners.
Surely, the filmmakers will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have returned with him. And what about the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?
Continuity from the Previous Film
Fortunately, some elements are carrying over from the earlier movie. The last thing the cowboy did before setting off for his new life was hand over his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser shows the badge attached to her outfit.
Hopefully she is remains the key figure among the toys.
