Unidentified Pink Slime on Isolated Tasmanian Coast Raises Anxiety of Potential Phytoplankton Proliferation
Authorities in Tasmania are striving to determine a rosy sludge that has appeared on a secluded beach, with a number of researchers anxious it could be an algal bloom.
Widespread Presence On Coastline
The magenta-hued slime appeared along a stretch of a southern bay about 60 kilometers south of the capital. A comparable ooze has also been documented on areas of another local beach and an additional coastal site.

Coleman explained sea sparkle did not generate toxins comparable to the type involved in the previous severe algal bloom, but it does consume tiny creatures and "many fish eggs", meaning marine life were particularly vulnerable.
